Santa Fe Springs : Boulevard to Be Improved
- Share via
The Santa Fe Springs Redevelopment Agency has approved $220,000 in street improvements along Firestone Boulevard in hopes of converting the street to an auto mall.
The city already has commitments from two dealerships; Chevrolet is scheduled to open this year and Nissan plans to begin construction next year, Planning Director Bob Orpin said.
The improvements to Firestone Boulevard, from Bloomfield Road to Shoemaker Avenue along the Santa Ana Freeway, include street pavement, landscaping, irrigation and a masonry wall along the railroad tracks.
City officials hope the public works investment in an auto mall will help attract dealerships, which can substantially boost annual sales tax revenue for municipalities, Orpin said.
