Kenya Ready to Scrap or Sell Steam Trains

NAIROBI, Kenya — For sale: 86 mostly British-made steam locomotives, some dating back to the early 1940s. See Kenya Railways.
An announcement in Kenyan newspapers Wednesday said the state corporation is selling the locomotives as scrap metal.The railways’ chief engineer said collectors could restore the locomotives to working order if they bought the boilers, which are being sold separately.
