Roberto Guerrero emerged unhurt after a collision during practice for the Feb. 12 Budweiser International Race of Champions XII at Daytona International Speedway at Daytona Beach, Fla.
Guerrero was driving in a three-car drafting formation with Chip Robinson and Scott Pruett when his car collided with Robinson’s entering the third turn of the 2.5-mile tri-oval at more than 180 m.p.h. Guerrero spun into the outside retaining wall, badly damaging his Camaro.
“I gave Roberto a tap in the rear to get by Scott Pruett,” said Robinson. “I guess that unsettled him a little bit, and I spun, too.
Guerrero immediately left the speedway to fly to test his Indy car.
“I’m OK, but I don’t know much about the car,” he said.
