Settlement Reached for Relocation

The Rancho Palos Verdes Redevelopment Agency has approved a cash settlement with Cherry Hill Lane resident Gene Frank, whose property is required to return Palos Verdes Drive South to its original right of way through the Portuguese Bend landslide area.
Charles Abbott, city public works consultant who is in charge of a $2-million project to stabilize the slide, said the $92,000 that Frank will receive also includes costs of relocating his home to property he owns half a mile away on Narcissa Drive.
Grading has begun, and the Frank house will be moved at the end of the month, he said. Since the slide began in 1956, the road has moved seaward in a curving direction and portions are as much as 350 feet away from their original location.
