Jose Oquendo of the St. Louis Cardinals lost his arbitration case and will earn $275,000 this season instead of the $360,000 he sought.
Oquendo, who made $100,000 last year, is the second player this winter to have his salary decided by an arbitrator. Gerald Perry of the Atlanta Braves won his case earlier this week.
Brook Jacoby of the Cleveland Indians and Darren Daulton of the Philadelphia Phillies, who had filed for arbitration, agreed to new contracts, reducing the players in arbitration to 52. Jacoby will get $812,500, and Daulton $115,000.
