BOISE, Ida. — Dozens of people filed into the Western Idaho Fairgrounds this weekend, but instead of getting cotton candy and corn dogs they got green army cots and imprisonment.
Part of a fair building was turned into a temporary jail to clear up a backlog of people serving weekend sentences for offenses such as driving under the influence or driving with a suspended license.
The backlog was caused by a bed shortage at the Ada County jail, officials said.
