A proposed $10 million contribution from the A. H. Robins family to the trust fund for Dalkon Shield claims is a token gesture designed to fend off lawsuits, said a group of Dalkon Shield claimants. “We’ve had no recognition or admission about our injuries, much less an apology. This has all been depersonalized into only a monetary issue,” said Karen Hicks, president of the Dalkon Shield Information Network. The $10 million that would be donated by the Robins family would be in addition to the $2.38 billion provided by A. H. Robins Co.’s purchaser, American Home Products Corp., and its insurer, Aetna Casualty & Surety Co.
