Transamerica Corp.’s earnings jumped 55% to a record $427.2 million for 1987. Revenue for the year was up 15% to $7.174 billion. The San Francisco company said the results reflect the basic earning power of core businesses and the success of its strategy to restructure and focus solely on financial services.
