USIU Breaks Record for Steals in Win Over Central Florida

SAN DIEGO — Four players scored in double figures and U.S. International University set a school record for steals in a 96-79 victory over the University of Central Florida Wednesday night at Golden Hall
Russ Heicke scored 25 points for the Gulls (8-16) and contributed to the record 23 steals with 5. Steve Smith and Rade Milutinovic also had 5 steals each. Smith added 18 points, Charles Redding 17 and Milutinovic 12.
USIU led from start to finish and was up by 12 points, 51-39, at halftime. The Gulls’ largest margin was 19 points with 13 minutes remaining. The victory snapped a five-game losing streak for USIU.
Fred Crawford scored 21 points and Ben Morton had 20 for Central Florida (8-13), of Orlando.
