Late Burst Gives El Camino 69-58 Victory Over Mt. Sac

That queasiness in Coach Paul Landreaux’s stomach is hardly the product of inspired play by his El Camino College basketball team.
No, the Warriors, despite their 69-58 victory over Mt. San Antonio on Wednesday night did little to soothe that sinking feeling Landreaux gets when his team walks on to the court.
“This is a very strange group,” said Landreaux, whose team leads the South Coast Conference with a 9-2 record. “They’re a very talented bunch, but they seem to utilize that talent only when they want to.”
Mt. Sac, the conference doormat at 2-9, took a 54-50 lead with 6:25 left in the game. But El Camino mounted a 19-4 run that proved the difference.
Kirkland Howling scored 10 of his 19 points during the stretch, and Arlandis Rush led all scorers with 20 points.
