TRW Inc. has announced that Joseph T. Gorman, 50, president and chief operating officer, will succeed Ruben F. Mettler, 64, as chairman and chief executive, when Mettler retires near the end of 1988.
Gorman joined TRW in 1968 and has served as president and chief operating officer since 1985. He became a director in 1984. Mettler, who joined TRW in 1955, has been chairman and chief executive since 1977.
TRW, headquartered in Redondo Beach, is a leading supplier of high-technology products and services, primarily for the space and defense, automotive and information systems markets.
