From the Justice-for-all file: Jim Reid, singer in the British rock group the Jesus and Mary Chain, pleaded guilty Wednesday to assaulting two unruly Toronto concert-goers with a microphone stand. Reid, a British citizen, was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and spent a night in a Toronto jail in November after a sold-out nightclub concert. Reid, 25, struck two men at the foot of the stage who yelled “Boring” and other comments at him during the show. At the hearing, the two men apologized to Reid for “causing him so much aggravation.” Reid, following the terms of his sentence, then apologized to the fans, donated $785 in their names to the Salvation Army and invited them backstage when his group next plays in Toronto.
