Pacific 10 Roundup : Oregon State Wins, 62-48, Moves Up

Bill Sherwood opened the second half with a pair of three-point shots and scored 21 points to lead Oregon State to a 62-48 victory over Washington State in a Pacific 10 Conference basketball game at Corvallis, Ore.
The victory moved the Beavers (14-8, 8-5) into a tie for second place in the Pac-10 with Stanford and UCLA.
Oregon State led, 22-20, at halftime before Sherwood’s bombs increased the lead to 29-23. The Beavers pulled away by holding Washington State (10-12, 5-8) to two field goals in eight minutes, and an 18-2 run made it 57-35 with three minutes left.
Oregon 69, Washington 64--Frank Johnson scored 19 points, and the Ducks beat the Huskies at Eugene, Ore.
Steve Ranniger came off the bench to sink a pair of three-pointers that gave the Ducks (12-10, 7-6) a 64-58 lead that held up.
Mike Hayward had 16 points for Washington (7-14, 3-10).
The defeat kept the Huskies in a last-place tie with USC.
