Police said they are looking for a mustard-colored Chevrolet Chevette with three teen-agers who fired pellets at a bus carrying the Edison High School boy’s basketball team back to Huntington Beach from a game in Long Beach on Thursday night.
No one was injured in the 10 p.m. shooting incident as the bus was traveling eastbound on 7th Street near Ximeno Avenue, said Long Beach Police Lt. Rod Mickelson, but a bus window was shattered.
Police said that the three boys appeared to be about 16 years old and that one was wearing a letterman’s jacket from St. Anthony’s High School in Long Beach.
The Huntington team had just defeated St. Anthony’s in a playoff game.
“If they’re regulars around school, we’ll find them,” Mickelson said of the gunmen.
Eight pellets were fired from the Chevette, which sped away northbound on Ximeno, police said.
