Bob Stivers; Producer of Celebrity Specials for TV

Bob Stivers, 66, producer of such television specials as “Circus of the Stars,” “Celebrity Daredevils” and “Stars Salute to the U.S. Olympic Team.” Stivers produced celebrity specials for all three major television networks, giving national audiences their first look at such personalities as Linda Rondstadt. He created the 1969 celebrity contest show “The Movie Game,” featuring such stars as John Wayne, Bob Hope, Jimmy Stewart, Carol Burnett and Burt Reynolds. The previous year he produced a nationwide talent search for NBC-TV, “Showcase ‘68,” which introduced Ronstadt to network television, as well as Sly and the Family Stone and others. In 1975 Stivers created “The People’s Choice Awards,” now in its 14th year. In Los Angeles of cancer on Wednesday.
