Frankie Allen, Virginia Tech basketball coach, was arrested on a drunken driving charge, but declined comment before boarding a plane in Roanoke, Va., for tonight’s game against Marquette in Milwaukee.
Allen, whose team is 18-6, was arrested in Salem, Va., after a 12:45 a.m. accident in which his car was wrecked when it crossed the center divider and struck a utility pole on the opposite shoulder, Salem Police Chief Harry Haskins said. Allen refused to take a breath or blood test, according to police. He is scheduled to appear in court next Tuesday on the drunken driving charge.
