In the latest turn in a dispute between Boston University and Coretta Scott King, attorneys for the university have demanded tapes of conversations between Mrs. King’s late husband, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and others, recorded secretly by federal investigators. The school and Mrs. King are at odds over an estimated 83,000 documents donated to BU by the civil rights leader, who earned a graduate degree from its School of Theology in 1955. Mrs. King has filed suit, saying the documents should be in the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta.
