Texas Inmate Granted Stay Shortly Before Execution

HUNTSVILLE, Tex. — Death Row inmate Gary Graham was granted a stay of execution by the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans just hours before he was scheduled to die early Thursday. Graham, who was 17 when he was convicted of a 1981 murder, was granted the reprieve because the judges said they needed more time to study issues in the case.
