Snubbing Gish
Fitting that Lillian Gish was snubbed for Academy Award nomination. “Whales of August”--a truly beautiful, classic motion picture in which Gish gives her finest performance, a rare treat in acting expertise, gleaned from over 70 years in the business.
No nudity, no four-letter words, perhaps they should have subtitles to explain the innocuous dialogue to present-day moviegoers?
So, the usual batch of so-called superstars is nominated for the usual trash Hollywood vomits out these days--makes you reflect on the B pictures of the past, many of which would be considered “epics” compared to the garbage of today.
Hollywood, you’ve been dead for 20 years! Shift to Forest Lawn where you belong!
