National Medical Enterprises sold a hospital in Gaffney, S.C., to Health Management Associates for $20 million. An agreement in principal was signed in October for the deal, which involved the 125-bed Upstate Carolina Medical Center, an acute-care facility. NME is based in Los Angeles; Health Management is based in Naples, Fla.
