KSDO Staffers’ Reply

SAN DIEGO — On-air staffers are still on the air at news-talk radio station KSDO-AM, despite the fact that the contract between station owner Gannett Co. and the local chapter of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) expired Feb. 1.
A rumored strike by KSDO’s 16 on-air staffers has not materialized and 10 of those staffers, in a group-authored letter protesting a recent Times story on the negotiations, said the prospect of a walkout has not been contemplated or raised, “not even in idle restroom conversations!”
The staffers denied that strike ballots had been distributed among them--and collected--as a KSDO management source had claimed.
