E. Leon Spaugy, a longtime Riverside County official, will become Los Angeles County’s new agricultural commissioner and director of weights and measures if approved by the Board of Supervisors next week, it was announced Wednesday.
Spaugy, 51, has been Riverside County’s agricultural commissioner and director of weights and measures since 1982. His appointment to the $75,000-a-year job is scheduled for a vote next Tuesday, according to spokeswoman Nadia Looper.
If approved, Spaugy will replace Commissioner Paul Engler, who retired earlier this year. Engler has remained with the department in a part-time capacity, pending the appointment of his successor.
