Today’s first round pairings for the California community college men’s basketball championships: Palomar (25-8) vs. Columbia (31-2), 3 p.m.; West Valley (23-6) vs. El Camino (30-3), 5 p.m.; Skyline (26-7) vs. Cypress (30-5), 7 p.m.; Santa Monica (25-8) vs. Merced (25-8), 9 p.m.
El Camino, ranked third statewide, is the top-seeded team from Southern California. Columbia, ranked No. 1, is the top-seeded team from the north. Winners in the single elimination event advance to the semifinal round Friday. The championship game will be played Saturday.
