William R. Yates, 58, a retired vice president of Avco Financial Services, has been appointed president and CEO of Lake America Corp. and chairman of Imperial Thrift & Loan Assn. Lake America Corp. is a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of Lake Co., one of Japan’s largest consumer finance companies. James A. Sweet, 43, who joined Imperial shortly after its acquisition by Lake America from Imperial Bank, Inglewood, will continue as president.
