Local News in Brief : Raiders Contract Delayed
- Share via
Completion of a contract between Irwindale and the Los Angeles Raiders spelling out terms for the football team’s projected move to the city will take another 60 to 90 days, Irwindale spokesman Xavier Hermosillo said.
An Aug. 20 agreement between the city and the Raiders had called for completion of the contract within 30 days, but that target was abandoned after a court ordered that an environmental impact report be done first.
Hermosillo said that completion of the environmental report, originally scheduled for February, is now expected around May 1.
He also said that talks between the city and Los Angeles County officials to secure a county leasehold to provide parking for the planned 62,000-seat stadium are only in “very preliminary” stages. The Raiders have expressed hope they can begin stadium construction by the end of the year.
