A Fullerton man was arrested as a rape suspect Monday after a witness to a sexual assault that took place last week saw him on the street Sunday night, police said.
Donald Mitchell West, 29, was arrested at a gas station on the corner of Imperial Highway and Associated Road shortly before 10 p.m., Brea Police Detective David Carlock said.
Police declined to say whether the rape victim had identified West.
West was sought in connection with a March 7 rape in a Brea apartment complex, Carlock said.
The unidentified victim told police that she had been approached by West as she washed clothes in the apartment’s laundry room, Carlock said.
West followed her up to her apartment and offered money to the woman in return for sex, but she refused and he left, Carlock said.
West returned shortly afterward and raped the woman, Carlock said.
