CANBERRA, Australia — The president of Australia’s ruling Labor Party, Michael Young, stepped down Monday after Prime Minister Bob Hawke, citing a possible conflict of interest, called on him to resign. Young has been under fire for accepting a job as consultant with Qantas, the national airline.
