Local News in Brief : Irvine : Incumbent Miller Files for City Council Seat
- Share via
Incumbent City Council member Sally Anne Miller was among five candidates who met Wednesday’s filing deadline to seek election to three council seats.
Three others who took out candidacy papers failed to return them to the city clerk’s office by the 5 p.m. Wednesday deadline, according to Rob Zachary, a city administrative assistant.
The filing deadline had been extended from Friday until Wednesday because two incumbents, C. David Baker and Ray Catalano, are not seeking reelection.
The election to fill three seats on the City Council will be June 7.
The other four candidates who met the filing deadline are Michael Shea, a car wash operator and appointee to the city Finance Commission; William A. Bloomer, a retired Marine Corps general who is an appointee to the city’s Public Safety Commission; Cameron Cosgrove, an appointee to the city Planning Commission, and Paula Werner, an appointee to the Irvine Transportation Commission.
The filing deadline for the Irvine mayor’s race was Friday. Incumbent Mayor Larry Agran and two other candidates, Hal Maloney and Barry Hammond, filed papers last week.
