Malibu : Woman of the Year Selected
A Malibu activist who was instrumental in enlisting community support to block a county plan to build an $86-million sewer system in the coastal community has been named 44th Assembly District Woman of the Year.
Corki Grazer, a lifelong Malibu resident, received the honor from Assemblyman Tom Hayden (D-Santa Monica) for her role in persuading Los Angeles County supervisors to seek an alternative system for Malibu. In a prepared statement, Grazer called it a victory for “activism over apathy and idealism over cynicism.”
Grazer, a graduate of Santa Monica High School, is married to film producer Brian Grazer. She will be honored along with other winners from the state’s 80 Assembly districts at an awards luncheon in Sacramento.
