WASHINGTON — The Peace Corps has given its volunteers a 14% raise in the readjustment allowance they receive at the end of their stints overseas.
Volunteers now will receive $200 a month, up from $175, for each month they spend working in a developing nation, officials said. At the end of two years, they will be entitled to $4,800 instead of $4,200.
Loret Miller Ruppe, the Peace Corps director, said she hopes the extra money will help interest more college students in signing up for the Peace Corps when they graduate.
