Paul M. Fye, 75, who directed the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution from 1958 to 1977. Fye, whose career in oceanography spanned nearly 50 years, had been working in an advisory position at the institution. The Woods Hole institution recently gained recognition as the base for researchers who found and explored the wreckage of the sunken ocean liner Titanic. In Falmouth, Mass., on Friday of heart failure.
