Kennedy 71, Granada Hills 52--Ian Alsen won three events, but Kennedy dominated the sprints and field events in a Mid-Valley League opener at Granada Hills. Alsen, the defending City champion in the 3,200, won the the 800 (2:00.9), 1,600 (4:45.7) and 3,200 meters (10:01.3).
SOFTBALL
Notre Dame 13, Bell-Jeff 1--Becca Berline pitched a three-hitter and registered 13 strikeouts to lead Notre Dame (8-2) to the championship of the Glendale tournament at Scholl Canyon Park in Glendale.
It was the second 13-strikeout, three-hit performance of the day for Berline, who earlier defeated Burroughs, 1-0, in 10 innings in the semifinal round.
Notre Dame’s Lisa Freitas was 2 for 3 against Bell-Jeff and was selected to the all-tournament team. Christy Mullen was 3 for 3 with two RBIs and Berline was 2 for 4 with one RBI.
