Art Depreciation

How pleased I was to see a featured review on Yoruba art (“African Art: An Unusual Way of looking at Life,” by William Wilson, March 13).
How disappointing to read a page of drivel whereby the “critic” generously includes the readership in his own ignorance.
Are we to believe that all readers of the Calendar are simple white folk? Are we to believe that post-Colonial and pre-Colonial African art conform aesthetically? Are we to believe that this is the best Calendar can do?
