Trump Takes to Skies to Lure High Rollers

NEW YORK — Manhattan developer Donald J. Trump launched what he described as a “super-luxury” helicopter service Tuesday from Manhattan to Atlantic City to take high rollers to casinos in the seaside gambling mecca.
As rotors roared over a news conference at the 30th Street heliport on the Hudson River, Trump said he “decided to go totally first class” with Trump Air, calling it “super-luxury service and super-modern service.”
And while the company will offer cheaper promotional fares for 30 days, ticket prices for the trip from the mid-town heliport to the pier at Resort’s International Casino Hotel, controlled by Trump, are definitely super at $125 per person one way. A special price of $49 one way will be offered to those who stay at Trump’s hotel.
The average round trip bus ticket is $25.
Trump said the service will cut travel time to Atlantic City dramatically, noting that the glossy black twin-engined choppers with a jaunty red stripe and the developer’s name emblazoned on the tail could make the trip in 45 minutes.
The trip takes 2 1/2 to 3 hours in a limousine, Trump said, depending on traffic.
