U.S. Troops in Honduras
In sending American troops to Honduras, the President once again shows his contempt for democracy and the will of the people as demonstrated most recently by the two House votes to deny aid to the Contras.
It is time now for our representatives to listen to us rather than to the Rambo in the White House. They should cut off funding for any military projects until the troops are returned to Ft. Ord and Ft. Bragg. They should support Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega’s request to the United Nations and to the Organization of American States for a peacekeeping force on the border.
All of us who care about peace must redouble our efforts to be heard before we are caught in the quicksands of another Vietnam.
