The Israeli Army must return news film confiscated from photographers for Western news agencies and magazines that depicted the shooting of an Israeli soldier, Israel’s High Court of Justice ruled Thursday. Judge Aharon Barak issued an injunction at the request of Reuters news service and Time and Newsweek magazines to return the film, shot during Palestinian unrest in the occupied West Bank town of Bethlehem last Sunday. But the judge set no deadline for the return and permitted the army to process the film, which the state prosecutor said was needed to help investigate the shooting. No appeal of the decision is possible, according to Israeli law.
