Sheriff’s deputies were searching Thursday for three men who tried to hold up two others in the Lennox area by using a pit bulldog as a weapon.
One of the victims, Dominick Tarantino, 22, of Hawthorne, was bit on the arm after he and his friend, Mike Scalice, 23, of Redondo Beach refused to comply with the would-be robbers’ request for money, Deputy Richard Dinsmoor said.
The incident occurred about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, when Scalice and Tarantino were approached by three men who threatened to sic their brown pit bull on them if they did not hand over their money, Dinsmoor said.
The men released the powerful animal after Scalice and Tarantino ran away, he said.
