The Palestine Liberation Organization’s mission at the United Nations will probably stay open for many weeks, if not months, while a U.S. move to have it closed becomes ensnarled in the courts, U.N. officials say. The U.S. Justice Department filed a civil suit in federal court in New York earlier this week asking that the PLO mission be ordered closed. However, a countersuit was filed challenging the constitutionality of a 1987 anti-terrorism law under which the Justice Department is acting. The suit was filed by 65 American individuals and organizations.
