Possible Meteorite Puts on Light Show
Scores of people in Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana on Sunday reported sighting what may have been a meteorite that created a spectacular light show and shook the earth as it streaked through the atmosphere.
A disc jockey for WKAY-AM radio in Glasgow, Ky., said her station received at least 50 calls Sunday from people throughout central Kentucky and Tennessee and south-central Indiana who said they had seen what appeared to be a huge ball of fire in the sky about 11 p.m. Saturday.
Some witnesses also reported a loud noise like a sonic boom.
The U.S. Space Command in Colorado Springs, Colo., said it was unlikely the object was debris from any defunct satellite or rocket.
