Belgium’s King Baudouin asked Flemish Christian Democrat Jean-Luc Dehaene to form a government and haul the country out of a 5-month political crisis. The palace said Dehaene accepted the mission. Dehaene, 47, was appointed as the king’s mediator 2 months ago to sound out positions on a new coalition government. He had abandoned the mission Thursday after coalition talks failed to bridge differences over the language problem that toppled the last government.
