Sheriff’s deputies on Monday asked for help in locating John Joseph Wolsiffer Jr., an 18-year-old epileptic with a mental age of an 8- or 10-year-old, who wandered away from his sister Sunday in Sunset Beach.
The La Mirada teen-ager was walking with his sister near 7th Street and South Pacific when he told her he was going to the shore, Sheriff’s Lt. Richard J. Olson said. When she could not find him, she contacted lifeguards who were also unable to locate him.
Olson said Wolsiffer’s relatives are especially concerned because he needs to take two medications, Tegretol and Depakote, twice daily to control and prevent his epileptic seizures.
Wolsiffer was described as 6 feet tall, and weighing 150 pounds, with blue eyes and short brown hair. He was last seen wearing blue and gray swim trunks.
Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at (714) 647-7000.
