Entertainer Bob Hope will have a street to call his own in Burbank starting next month.
The Burbank City Council on Tuesday voted to rename as Bob Hope Drive a portion of Catalina Street between Alameda Avenue and the Los Angeles flood control channel.
The honor is part of a series of Burbank salutes to Hope, who has a home in adjacent Toluca Lake. City officials said May 13 will be proclaimed Bob Hope Day in Burbank. Hope next month will also be celebrating his 50th anniversary with NBC, which is in Burbank.
Hope, who will be 85 next month, recently performed at a pair of benefit events in Burbank to raise funds for a controversial statue commemorating war veterans.
