MINNEAPOLIS — The Baltimore Orioles, who only five years ago won the World Series, today set an American League mark of 21 straight defeats by dropping a 4-2 decision to the Minnesota Twins.
Kent Hrbek hit a two-run homer for Minnesota and John Moses added a two-run double, sending the Orioles within two games of tying the modern major-league record for most consecutive defeats. The 1961 Philadelphia Phillies of the National League lost 23 straight.
