USC’s Bret Barberie hit a three-run home run and Michigan’s Jim Abbott pitched 4 innings of hitless relief as a U.S. collegiate all-star team defeated a Japanese national team, 6-4, at Tokyo.
The victory was the United States’ second against three defeats in the five-game series. Japan beat the United States Friday, 12-10, to win the series for the first time in three years and the sixth time in 17.
