Responding to complaints of dangerous stunts and allegations of harassment and vandalism, San Francisco officials will ban skateboarders from a popular downtown plaza. Signs forbidding skateboarding soon will be posted at Justin Herman Plaza at the foot of Market Street. “We’ve had a few calls from people who say the youths have whizzed by them quickly and frightened them. We’re concerned that someone is going to get hurt,” said Sandra Sloan of the Embarcadero Center office complex, which contracts with the city to maintain the plaza.
