Argentina’s governing Radical Civic Union overwhelmingly chose Gov. Eduardo Angeloz of Cordoba province as its presidential candidate in 1989 elections, official primary returns showed. Angeloz, the handpicked candidate of party leader and President Raul Alfonsin, garnered 593,616 votes, or 88%; most of the remainder went to Sen. Luis Leon of northern Chaco province. The turnout was about 30%. Alfonsin by law cannot run for reelection. Angeloz, 56, will face a Peronist candidate, who will be chosen in a primary Saturday, in the 1989 elections.
