The Hammond Co., a Newport Beach mortgage banking firm, posted a loss of $242,800 for its fiscal first quarter ended June 30, contrasted with net income of $114,000 in last year’s first quarter. Revenue dropped 26% to $5 million from $6.7 million. The firm attributed the loss partly to lower demand for loans.
