Reynolds Metals Co.’s second-quarter profit soared 164% to $134.8 million from a year ago. Revenue was up 38% to a record $1.47 billion. The Richmond, Va.-based company attributed the gains to worldwide demand for aluminum, strong price improvement for most products, increased revenue from gold operations and growth in the packaging, can and consumer product business.
