An inmate at the Descanso detention camp escaped in a milk truck Tuesday morning but was recaptured in the afternoon, Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Knox said.
Scott Lee Ropp, 27, in custody for burglary, resisting arrest and traffic violations, was missed in the morning and the truck driver was notified by two-way radio that Ropp might be inside.
When the driver opened the back of the vehicle, Ropp jumped out and ran into the woods. Police picked up Ropp without incident at the shore of Lake Cuyamaca, Knox said.
