No Golf Allowed on Rare Weed Habitat

HOUSTON — The presence of the Texas bitterweed, a protected species, has left a bitter taste in the mouths of county officials whose plan for a new golf course was halted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Harris County’s application to build the course on Corps property was turned down to protect the endangered plant, Hmenoxys texana .
